Click Test

๐Ÿ’ง Extraction First mentioned: Ep. 010

A simple quality test for properly dried hash: when a piece of dried hash is dropped onto a hard surface from a short height, it should produce an audible "click" โ€” indicating that the moisture content has been reduced to the point where the hash is brittle and stable. Hash that thuds or sticks has retained too much moisture and needs more drying time. Bubbleman identified proper drying as the single most important factor in hash quality.

The click test was shared in Episode 10 during an extensive discussion about hash drying. Bubbleman declared drying to be the number one quality factor in hash making โ€” more important than starting material, extraction method, or screen selection. Properly dried hash takes 2-3 months and requires controlled conditions. The click test gives the maker an objective, tool-free way to assess progress. The panel also noted that drying isn't uniform across strains: limonene-heavy strains are hygroscopic, meaning they pull moisture from the air and may need longer drying times or lower humidity environments. The broader lesson was patience โ€” rushing the drying process ruins hash that was perfectly extracted.
