// Definition
Ice water extraction method that uses agitation and mesh filter bags (Bubble Bags) to separate trichome gland heads from plant material. The process works because trichomes become brittle in cold water and break free, while the mesh bags filter by micron size to isolate pure gland heads. Invented in its modern multi-bag form by Bubbleman in 1999. The gold standard of solventless extraction.
// From the Episode
Bubble hash was the central topic of Episode 1 โ it's how Hash Church got its name. Bubbleman explained that the original Bubble Bags system used three bags, later expanding to 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 bag kits. Each bag catches a different micron size, allowing the hash maker to isolate different grades of trichome heads. The key advantage over dry sift is purity: a single screen of dry sift yields roughly 75% contaminant, while Bubble Bags can achieve 98-99% pure gland heads. The process requires only ice, water, cannabis, and the bags โ no solvents, no chemicals, no pressure.
