CleanLight UV-C

๐Ÿ’ง Extraction First mentioned: Ep. 018

A UV-C light system from the Netherlands (cleanlight.nl) used to kill powdery mildew and other surface molds on cannabis plants. The handheld Pro unit (approximately $2,000) emits UV-C radiation that turns PM black on contact so it can be brushed off. Used commercially in Austrian clone operations running 30,000+ clones per week on trolley systems down greenhouse aisles. Also effective for sterilising grow room equipment, bubble bags, and ductwork between cycles. Does not work on botrytis that has penetrated inside the plant.

CleanLight was revealed in Episode 18 by Aaron from DNA Genetics, who described it as his "secret weapon" after visiting Austrian clone farms (Flurry Fields) that process 30,000+ clones weekly. The technology originated in the European cut flower industry (roses) and was adapted for cannabis. The key distinction is that CleanLight works on surface contamination only โ€” powdery mildew sits on the plant surface and can be killed by UV-C radiation and brushed off. Botrytis, which infiltrates from inside the plant, is unaffected because the UV-C cannot reach it. Horatio expanded the application beyond plants to sterilisation of equipment and grow spaces, positioning it as a standardisation tool for the industry. Bubbleman posted the cleanlight.nl link in the YouTube comments during the live broadcast.
