Terpene Inhalation Safety

⚗️ Science First mentioned: Ep. 062

The study of safe dosage levels and potential risks when inhaling concentrated terpenes, particularly at elevated temperatures on a dab nail. At high concentrations, certain terpenes like limonene can act as irritants, and dose-dependent effects mean that terpene ratios found naturally in cannabis are much lower than what is delivered in concentrated form.

Mark Scialdone explained that the dose is the poison -- terpenes at low concentrations are benign but at higher concentrations can cause irritation. Bubbleman noted one batch gave him a persistent tingling sensation in his nose that his instincts told him not to inhale.
