Skunk #1 revolutionized indoor growing and became the backbone of modern cannabis breeding due to its predictable genetics and ease of hybridization.

Skunkman Sam told the firsthand story of creating Skunk #1. He started in the mid-70s, brought it to the Netherlands around 1984-85, and did grow-outs of 20,000 plants from seed to select the best genetics. He personally preferred Haze strains and selected away from the skunky phenotypes for almost 10 years, noting the 'dank' ones produced a 'narcotic couch lock' he didn't prefer. Bubbleman credited Skunkman Sam as '100% inspiring me into water hash and dry sift.' Sam noted 'the war on cannabis is completely lost' and the Skunk #1 helped make that possible.
