// Definition
A preservation technique borrowed from the meat and coffee industries where cannabis is sealed in containers that are flushed with nitrogen gas to displace oxygen, preventing oxidation and degradation. Used commercially since at least 1990 for multi-kilo cannabis storage.
// From the Episode
Skunkman Sam described using nitrogen-flushing vacuum-seal meat-packing machines in 1990 at $5-10K each, processing 500g bags in about one minute. San Jose University packaging department demonstrated coffee-bean nitrogen-flush sealing technology applicable to cannabis. Sam also mentioned nitrogen flushing in the 1970s to remove mouse-contamination odors from warehouse-stored cannabis.
