Rick Doblin, founder of MAPS, appeared on the Mothers Day episode and provided an extensive history of MAPS' 30-year battle to conduct research. He described fighting NIDA's monopoly on research cannabis supply, getting FDA and IRB approvals only to be blocked by NIDA/DEA. MAPS was conducting phase 2 studies on MDMA for PTSD and pursuing marijuana PTSD research at Sue Sisley's site in Phoenix and Johns Hopkins.
