Finola Hemp Variety

๐ŸŒฟ Cultivation First mentioned: Ep. 066

A hemp variety created by crossing two Vavilov Institute landraces (catalog numbers 313 and 315), given the designation 314. The seeds were taken to Finland by Jay (J.C. Callaway), hence the name Finola. Notable for having a mutated CBD allele that causes CBG accumulation.

Chimera provided detailed trivia about Finola: Skunkman Sam obtained two Vavilov Institute varieties (313 and 315), crossed them to create 314, then Jay Callaway took those seeds to Finland. The variety has a mutated CBD allele causing CBG backing up, and also has a knockout allele that shuts off cannabinoid production in Type 5 plants. USO-31 was mentioned as another popular hemp variety in Canada.
