Cannabis Sommelier Methodology

The application of sommelier-style trained sensory evaluation to cannabis, borrowed from the wine industry. Cannabis sommeliers use Interpening to identify strains, growing conditions, and quality through trained aroma and visual assessment. The methodology maps where on the psychopharmacy spectrum between stimulating and sedative any domesticated hybrid plant type will fall.

Max Montrose described knowing that terpenes were felt in different parts of the body long before he knew what terpenes actually were. This experiential knowledge forms part of the framework where practitioners connect aroma profiles with predicted physical and psychotropic effects.
