The 90 micron bag was a late addition to Bubbleman's bag kit lineup. Originally the kit went from a 3-bag system up to 7 bags, but even at 7 bags there was no 90 micron -- just a large jump from 120 microns down to 73. The 90 was added around 2004-2005 after experimenting with 80, 90, 100, and 110 micron screens, and 90 proved to be the sweet spot for capturing the 74-90 micron trichome head range.

Bubbleman explains community resistance to adding bags -- people accused him of just trying to sell more bags. Each addition (3 to 4, 5, 6, 7) met the same pushback. The Isolator camp argued fewer bags could do the same job. Bubbleman mentions breeding varieties that only produce 90 micron resin heads, eliminating the need for other bags.
