Trichome Ripeness Harvesting

๐ŸŒฟ Cultivation First mentioned: Ep. 215

The practice of timing cannabis harvest based on trichome maturity stage (clear, cloudy, amber) as observed under electron scanning microscopy, with different optimal harvest windows depending on whether the product is destined for fresh frozen hash, dried flower, or other end uses.

Isam from Canera described a research project originated by Frenchy Cannoli (before his passing) and continued with McGill University, studying the correlation between trichome ripeness, potency, and terpene content. Using electron scanning microscopy at McGill and in-house cannabinoid/terpene testing, they established data-driven harvest timing that maximizes yield, cannabinoid content, and terpene preservation specific to each genetic and its intended end product.
