Top-Down Agitation

๐Ÿ’ง Extraction First mentioned: Ep. 248

A method of mixing for water hash extraction where the impeller or agitator operates from the top of the vessel rather than the bottom, allowing better control of agitation intensity and reducing damage to trichomes.

Colin discussed building a DIY open-source top-down agitation setup for less than a few hundred dollars to share with beginning hash makers. Bubbleman noted some of his best hash was made with a cake mixer ($19.99) and 5-gallon bucket. Discussion covered the evolution from cake mixers to Reinhardt machines to Whistler Technology and commercial hashtag units. The Bizar brothers used linear actuators with 100-gallon conical wine industry tubs in the early 2000s.
