Shona Banda Case

๐Ÿ”ฅ Culture First mentioned: Ep. 135

A landmark Kansas cannabis prosecution case where Shona Banda, a medical cannabis patient and activist who used cannabis oil for Crohn's disease, was charged with felony possession after her son corrected a school drug education class about the word 'cannabis' vs 'marijuana', prompting authorities to investigate and raid her home.

Banda started using cannabis in 2003 for Crohn's, rheumatoid arthritis, and endometriosis. She was near death in 2009, discovered how to make cannabis oil accidentally, and recovered enough to stop using a cane within three days. She moved from Colorado back to Kansas, wrote a book, and was an outspoken activist. Court date was April 7th. Became a rallying cause for the online cannabis community.
