The original Haze was not a fixed three-way hybrid but an evolving family created by the Haze Brothers (Robert and Jerry) in Santa Cruz, California. They repeatedly crossed in new equatorial genetics each generation - the last known male additions were a Kerala (Indian) followed by a Thai, both provided by David Watson (Skunkman Sam). Each new male diluted previous genetics by half.

Ryan Lee explained that Haze is really an umbrella term for multi-equatorial hybrids. Neville's Haze A and C selections were special because they came from earlier, less-diluted generations. The defining characteristics are terpinolene dominance and ladder-like flower structure, with the critical factor being absence of Afghan genetics.
