Gibberellic Acid

⚗️ Science First mentioned: Ep. 256

A plant hormone used in cannabis breeding to stress female plants into producing male pollen (feminized seed production) and to stimulate germination of old or dormant seeds. Requires precise concentration control to avoid abnormal elongation ('crazy rice syndrome').

Kevin Jodrey learned about it through bonsai cultivation and applied it while working for Ed Rosenthal to produce feminized seeds by stressing females into hermaphroditism. Brandon warned that incorrect concentration causes extreme elongation — '11 inches over 3 days.' Also discussed in context of rescuing old seed stock alongside tissue culture.
