FAAH Inhibitors

⚗️ Science First mentioned: Ep. 070

Fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) inhibitors are compounds that block the enzyme responsible for breaking down anandamide, thereby increasing endocannabinoid levels. A clinical trial in France resulted in serious adverse effects and at least one death.

Skunkman Sam referenced the French clinical trial where synthetic FAAH inhibitors caused severe problems. The panel distinguished this from natural cannabis use, emphasizing that the drug was a synthetic compound that blocked the endocannabinoid system's normal function. Media headlines misleadingly called it a 'cannabis drug' when it was entirely synthetic.
