CBD:THC Ratio for Epilepsy

🩺 Medicine First mentioned: Ep. 093

Alexander Rety's daughter used cannabis oil at approximately a 1:21 THC-to-CBD ratio (high CBD, low THC). Her daily dosing was about 68 milligrams of CBD and 3 milligrams of THC per day. The high CBD ratio was chosen specifically for anti-epileptic effects while minimizing psychoactive THC exposure in a pediatric patient.

The strain used was specifically high-CBD. Some research suggests THC catalyzes CBD's effects, supporting the entourage effect even at low THC levels. THCA-only preparations were also being explored for anti-seizure activity without any decarboxylation.
