A chemical mechanism by which CBD is converted to THC when exposed to acidic conditions. Raphael Mechoulam demonstrated this conversion decades ago, showing that as soon as CBD contacts acid, carbonium ion chemistry occurs, making the conversion thermodynamically inevitable in vitro.
