Biphasic THC Effect

⚗️ Science First mentioned: Ep. 072

The dual-phase pharmacological response to THC where it first stimulates and then depresses, a fundamental property of THC that occurs even with pure THC and is modulated by terpenes and other cannabinoids.

Skunkman Sam explained this concept in detail: 'Cannabis THC is really biphasic. At first it stimulates, then it depresses. That's even if you're smoking pure THC, plus all these other things just modulate that biphasicness.' Bubbleman noted that certain terpene profiles seem to extend the stimulating phase or almost turn off the depressive latter part.
